While North Bay Village was integrated as a City in 1945, Treasure Island and Harbor Island were incorporated some years later. During its early years, North Bay Village was a haven for winter residents widely known for its popular restaurants and nightclubs, which attracted celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Today, the city has grown into a lush neighborhood of attractive single-family residences and year-round residents.
Harbor Island and Treasure Island were created after dredging and filling during the mid 1940's, Harbor Island features primarily multi-family buildings. Treasure Island is a mixture of single family and multi-family residences, and the streets names in the area were drawn from Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, which is a fun fact.
