Coral Gables

Located just south of downtown Miami, Coral Gables, "The City Beautiful" as it is known, is one of the premiere communities in the Greater Miami area. Created back in the 1920’s, is a historic and cultural community famous for the "Old Spanish" Mediterranean style buildings, Venetian Pool, sculptured fountains, and decorated plazas that add to the distinctive charm of the area. Two of the most unique samples of the style are the Villa Vizcaya, built in 1914 using only authentic materials from Italy and Spain, and the Biltmore Hotel, inspired by the Cathedral of Seville. Coral Gables home prices are not only among the most expensive in Florida, but also consistently rank among the most expensive in United States.

The area consists primarily in single-family homes, with nearly 80% owner occupancy but recent development of condos is changing the mix with exclusive gated communities such as Cocoplum, Gables by the Sea, Gables Estates and Deering Bay attracting high-end buyers. As one of the most desirable markets in the area, this quiet residential area has a bustling downtown business sector, fine residential neighborhoods, and great quality of life. Coral Gables is a city of professionals, managers and sales and office workers, but is also a city of artists, designers and people working in media. Being home of the University of Miami, it is also a college town, with services and amenities designed for the students. The city is also the Latin American corporate headquarters for over 150 multi-national companies.

Famous for its grand Miracle Mile, one of the few walking neighbourhoods in Miami-Dade county, with outdoor cafes, galleries, bookstores, home and entertainment shops, fine restaurants and international specialty boutiques. The new Village of Merrick Park is another hot spot for luxury retail, while downtown Coral Gables provides 140 upscale dining establishments and shops amid a beautiful tropical setting. There are 36 miles of pristine waterways, with inlets and bays and multiple boating facilities to enjoy waterfront activities. The Gables are also a favourite among golf lovers, with four golf courses, including the world famous The Biltmore Golf Course, home to several PGA tour events.
