Brickell Key is a gated man-made island just east of Brickell that has been entirely developed by Hong Kong based Swire, the company currently developing the massive mixed-use project known as Brickell City Centre. In the 1940’s an investor bought the triangle of 44 acres that was then sold to Swire Properties, who developed it into one of the most distinctive island communities in the world and a refuge from the financial and business districts of Brickell Avenue.
