Fisher Island

Fisher Island is an ultra exclusive community located just 3 miles off shore of Miami and is only accessible by car ferry, helicopter or private boat. Originally built in the 1920's by the Vanderbilts as their lavish winter estate, was then home of several other millionaires until it was sold for development in 1960s. The property sat vacant for well over 15 years and after years of changes in ownership, further development on the island was finally started in the 1980s, with gorgeous multi-million dollar estate homes, villas and condominiums matching the original 1920s Spanish style mansions.

This 216-acre world-class residential community offers just over 750 mid-rise condominiums and 9 mansions, still remaining exclusive by modern standards due to the lack of traditional vehicular access. This very wealthy community population is primarily upper-middle income, with most people employed in executive, management and professional occupations. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Fisher Island had the highest per capita income of any place in the country in 2000.

Homes here are among the largest, most architecturally impressive and most valuable in the country with residential communities like Valencia Estates, Bayview and Seaside Village featuring stunning condos, villas and mansions with magnificent views of the oceanfront and nearby Miami Beach. Current distinguished residents include Oprah Winfrey and other celebrities. Boris Becker and Mel Brooks also who own homes on the island.

With tennis courts, golf courses, casual and fine restaurants, two deepwater marinas, beauty salons and beautiful beaches, there are numerous activities to enjoy in this tranquil setting where residents generally travel around by way of golf cart.
